Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026

ForgetMeNot helps you remember important people, occasions, and personal reminders. Much of your information is stored on your device. AI features share selected information with our server and external AI services only after you allow AI sharing. Subscription services also process purchase and subscription information.

1. Information Stored on Your Device

The app saves the following information in local app storage:

Local storage does not mean this information never leaves your device. With your AI permission, selected information is included in AI requests as described below. Device backup settings may also affect copies of local information. The app's PIN lock uses the device's secure-storage service.

2. Device Features and Permissions

If you choose a contact, the app uses that contact's name and phone number. Calendar import reads calendar information on your device to find birthdays and occasions. Photo selection lets you choose a profile image.

These features do not upload your full address book, calendar, or photo library to our server. Information you import and save, such as a person's name or an occasion, may later be included in an AI request if you allow AI sharing.

3. Information Shared for AI Features

After you select Allow AI Features, AI requests travel from the app to our API server, through Replit AI Integrations, and to Anthropic, the model provider. Depending on the feature, this may include:

Eligible chat exchanges also trigger a separate AI request containing a recent conversation excerpt and existing memory text to suggest new memories. Accepted memories are saved on your device.

After permission is granted, some AI requests happen automatically when personalized cards load or check-ins refresh, not only when you press Send. Phone numbers, emails, and photos are not dedicated fields in these requests, but identifying or sensitive details may be transmitted if you include them in text. Avoid entering information you do not want these services to process, including private information about other people.

4. Server Processing, Logs, and Retention

The current AI request handlers process requests and return responses without explicitly saving prompts or conversations to an application database. The server uses security headers and rate limiting and produces operational request and error logs.

Normal request logging is configured not to include request bodies. Error details may contain information returned by providers, so we cannot guarantee that logs never contain personal content.

Replit, Anthropic, RevenueCat, and hosting services may process or retain information under their applicable terms, settings, and agreements. We do not promise that AI data is immediately deleted everywhere or that zero-data-retention agreements apply. Deleting local data does not necessarily delete information previously processed or retained by providers.

5. Third-Party Services

Replit AI Integrations and Anthropic

Our server accesses Anthropic Claude through Replit AI Integrations for AI conversations, suggestions, insights, encouragement, and memory extraction. See Replit's privacy policy and Anthropic's privacy policy. Applicable API and data-processing terms may differ from consumer-service terms.

RevenueCat (Subscriptions)

RevenueCat manages purchases, restores, and Premium access using an automatically generated anonymous customer ID rather than a custom user ID. The app does not explicitly send your name, email, phone number, contact list, profile, or memories as RevenueCat customer attributes.

RevenueCat processes purchase history, subscription and entitlement information, and technical information associated with its service. An anonymous ID does not mean no information is collected. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Apple App Store / Google Play

Apple or Google handles payment processing. Their policies govern those transactions. ForgetMeNot does not receive your payment-card details.

6. Reminders and Messages

Reminders are scheduled locally; the app does not use remote push servers for these reminders. Non-AI reminders remain usable without AI permission. Scheduled messages are reminders, not automatic texts. When you explicitly open Messages, the phone number and draft text are passed to your device's messaging app. Your messaging provider's policies apply when you send.

7. Children's Privacy

ForgetMeNot is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). If you believe a child has provided personal information through the service, contact hello@joinforgetmenot.com so we can investigate and address it.

8. Your AI Permission, Choices, and Rights

Before AI sharing is enabled, the app explains what may be shared and identifies our API server, Replit AI Integrations, and Anthropic. Choose Allow AI Features or Not Now, and open this policy from the permission screen.

Your choice is saved locally on this installation. All app AI requests, including automatic cards, insights, encouragement, and memory extraction, stay blocked until you allow sharing. Choosing Not Now does not delete local information or disable non-AI reminders.

In Settings → Data → AI data sharing, select Review AI Permission to reconsider, or Withdraw AI Permission to stop future AI requests. Withdrawal also attempts to cancel in-progress requests, but cannot recall information already sent to a provider. It does not delete your saved local data. If a storage error prevents saving a choice, AI sharing stays off for that session and the app reports the error so you can try again before restarting.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correction, or deletion. Contact hello@joinforgetmenot.com with questions or requests.

9. How Information Is Used

Information is used to organize your people, occasions, gifts, notes, and reminders; generate AI responses and maintain assistant memories when permitted; manage subscriptions; operate the service, limit abuse, and investigate errors. Retention limitations are described in section 4.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ForgetMeNot after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
